Nope. A friend installed a complete unit from one vehicle brand to another....it took all week-end to accomplish the modification!
I've been thinking it over since you posted the question.....I guess if you got a great deal on the system, it would be worth the effort to make the switch......
but other than that---a new aftermarket system can be installed in one day (annnnnnnd........don't bother using a "previously owned" compressor----DON'T ASK )
I did mot were older threads 2 + years and there were a lot of complaints / issues. Was looking for more recent info.
I put the Vintage air system in my 68 with NPs just a bit tight with the air ducting right behind the center gage cluster but very doable if you take your time. This was done on a original air car so not sure how much more trouble that would be or not.
I replaced the factory AC in my 69 with a Gen 4 system in 2008. I have been very happy with the system, it works great and I have not had any problems. I purchased the electric fan option but I have not had any overheating issues and never installed it.
Vintage Air has great support if you have any questions during the install.
