Yeah, for a 17 year old, my Vette insurance is terrible, $111 for six months! Man, having to pay that sucks so much....
When the snow falls I get into my boat, an '86 Crown Victoria. I just can't seem to avoid V8 RWD :D No ABS, open diff, that thing just goes right through the snow. Doesn't stop or get going in it, but once it actually gets moving...

Re: Winter Vehicles? (SicChild)
My beater is a '67 Chevy C10 long-wide pickup. Sorry no pic, put it is pretty sharp for such an old truck that I abuse daily. :reddevil Oh, and to answer your other question, I am 28 and married, so my insurance is cheap as Hell. :yesnod: Welcome to The Forum!
when i bought my vette last year, i was paying $129/month (20 yrs old). i'll be applying for collector's plates as of january 1st. insurance then will cost between $200-$300/year. as for my winter vehicle, check the bottom of my sig. welcome to the forum.
I'm 26, and married with 2 kids= cheap insurance. :D My winter vehicles are either a 91' AWD Chevy Astro van, an 84' chrysler E-class (beater, gets good mileage, trying to drive it until it dies but it never does) or until this winter I had an 86' Chevy half ton 4 wheel drive pickup. Now, with the kids I was looking for something in an extended cab, so I just picked up a 91' F**d half ton extended cab short box 4 wheel drive pickup with a 302 and an automatic. I got it real cheap because the transmission was leaking all the fluid out the input shaft and it's high miles. (132,000) The body and interior are real good though, so after I get done with a little mechanical work it'll be good to go with enough room for the wife and I and 2 kids. I have the tranny rebuilt now and the engine is soon to be taken apart and overhauled since I have it out and all. My dad is driving my 86' Chevy now.
The other, other woman is a '67 Cougar. Not really for winter, but more of a CSV. Don't put the other woman away except when she breaks (present circumstances excepted.) 52 more days and I wil be able to take off her cover and pull her out of the toy box, insha' allah (God willing)!
I almost bought my first Vette when I was 23. Beautiful '67 Vert. Could afford the car but being single, under 25 and Active military the insurance was over $300 US a month and that was in '83! Damn that was a lot of money then. Needless to say I had to pass. Bad enough at 23 it would have been impossible for me at 16.
Winter... I only dream of it. Yesterday was: low=91.4, high=113, heat index=129.2
My winter and summer vehicle is my cop car Caprice. The cop car part makes it sound alot cooler . To me the Caprice/Impala is the last 4 dr. "muscle" car. Its gotta big back seat if you know I mean ;). Exactly... to haul around my disassembeld corvette.
I know how bad insurance can be as a youngen. I'm counting down until I'm 25. I'm 23, single, perfect record, even get a good student discount and mine is about $150/month but that's petty compared to yours. I feel for ya.
I drive a Nissan 300ZX for a daily driver. It gets me from Point A to B and makes me really appreciate my C3.
Ahhh.....to be 16 again.....and with a Vette to boot. Lets just say my youngest daughter is 4 years older than you are!!
In '73 I had to choose between a Z-28 or a Vette....both were about the same price...and I could afford (barely...if I skipped a couple of meals a week) either one....but the insurance on the Vette was twice as much as the Camaro. That's one of the reasons I had to wait until now to get my Vette!
My "other" ride (toy) is a '79 Jeep CJ-7 with a slightly modified 304 V-8 and a '80 Harley Davidson motorcycle....I guess I like all of them to be old!
Have fun...but be careful. At your age, 1 little accident will really raise your insurance....or they my drop you....
Welcome to the forum Wainwright Alberta been thru lots of times. I have also insured vehicles in Alberta. Funny how the high cost of insurance has a direct effect on a person's driving attitude. :)
Seems like everyone here has AT LEAST 2 vettes. They get that addicting huh? I think I'm gonna have to wait a while before I get another, I can barely afford this one as it is. Scool gets in the way of all my working to make money ;) I'd like an '81 or '69 eventually. Hopefully someday I can move to Florida or Arizona to get away from this nasty 8 month long Canadian winter, heh heh.
I'm having withdrawls here. My vette's in pieces until at least next year !!
You have one of my dream cars there - the 65 - same age as me.
Maybe you can swing over to Burlington some weekday and let me
check it out. Of course, I'd like a little ride, too. :)

Each of these states allows near 365 day cruzin' and you have to make the choice, brown landscapes or bugs, desolation or crouds. I don't like bugs and I dislike crouds - sure miss the green though :yesnod:
Also something about empty desert roads running for miles into nowhere tends to add to the experience :D
Welcome to the world of Vettes SicChild. Nice to see another Canuck and also a younger guy to carry on the C3 Vette tradition on to the next generation. You are right...insurance is a killer
