I have a greenwood "twin turbo" hood which fits pretty good and allows a couple extra inches of clearance. A factory big block hood is another option as well. Remember some carbs are taller than others so you have options there too... I seem to remember a small boxy carb that had a lower profile that was sold for sbc use... with I could remember the name.
Good News! It fit with a 1.5 drop base air filter. Closed the hood this morning. Very tight but top of filter is not touching hood. So if my numbers are correct stock L48 intake carb pad is around 3.5 new intake is 5.08. Used 1.5 drop base from Summit with a 3" high filter and low profile flo thru top. That makes filter with lib measure 2" from top of carb.
New radiator install in the morning and I should have her on the road tomorrow afternoon.
