I'd buy it and replace the intake with a smaller one at a 20-30 HP loss...
One reason I'm glad I have an aftermarket hood. They make low profile air intakes that might work with certian carbs but it will be close.
I'll save higher intake for when I get a taller hood. Maybe make a lamp outta it
Any idea how much taller the intake is than the stock intake? A lamp sounds like a good idea, but you may want to consider buying a second to have a matching pair.
No idea how tall my stock intake is but the taller intake thats on the 383 engine is 5.08 per Summit guy. I dont know about the street warrior 8121 but they said it would fit. "They" being both Summit and Blueprint engines. Hoping I can get engine to fit without the intake swap. Looking into drop/low profile air filters and K&N top flow. Worth a try

Thanks. I'm betting on you to get it done. It might just take some creativity. I'm planning on using a 383 with an intake that is about 1.25" taller than stock and I have a K&N air cleaner that is 1 1/4" drop base with a total height of 2 3/4". My "they", not Summit or Blueprint also say it will work. Remains to be seen. May have to drive with the hood open. Not a big deal as long as you only drive in reverse.
Thanks Joe, I'm hoping I'll be happy with the 383. I was looking for a motor that would be fun and make me smile when I hit the gas but not shake the ground. Daily driver with some power. I'm gonna be looking at hoods soon. Not only for the clearance but my paint is bubbling over ac compressor.
