Default Quadrajet

When I got my old 69 427 it had a warranty replacement carb dated 70 and made by Carter. 48498.
It ran like crap as it was old and leaking from every orifice you can think of. I got Philip Cancilla from Custom Rebuilt Carburators to make something up for me that would actually work. He sent me the proper carb and isn't a restamp and when I installed it the engine idle was at GM specs. 750 rpm. I used a vacuum gauge and the settings were right on. Right out of the box. Kind of surprised on this one...
Carb number is 7029215 and you can see my smiling idiot face on the valve cover....

Got it right first try. Always a good feel'n. And seeing the snowflake on the intake along with GM labeled hoses only a numbers matching carb would do for u.

Something you'll want is a spare tool box carb. So that when trouble shooting u have a known good carb to isolate the problem(s). Pick up a good core qjet (with divorced choke for u i believe) and practice rebuilding/tuning on that.

Keep'm running.
