I recently picked up a 69 corvetter convertible and noticed the rear compartment was in rough condition. Does anyone have any experience with refurbishing this area? ie, battery compartment with acid damage(looks like the overflow tubes were not in place with previous owner), missing frame screws, missing hinge screws, hinge rivits(where to find replacement rivits and how to replace?), what to paint the battery compartment with that has acid damage?
I ordered supposedley production replacement parts on Ecklers corvettes, but the frame screws, hinge screws and door striker kits were not production replacement parts. Any suggestions on where to go for replacement parts that look like production replacement parts?
POR 15 will work really well to cover and reinforce the battery compartment area.
(it forms a rock hard surface even on weak fiberglass areas)
any POR15 you get on you you will wear for about 1 week.
it does not come off easy.

thanks... I don't think the battery compartment is in a weakened condition where it needs to be re-inforced, but there is acid surface damage. I've cleaned it with baking soda and water, but should the surface be primed before i paint it with a flat black paint?
