69 Fan Shroud Mounting

69 Fan Shroud Mounting
I have a 69 with an L46/manual transmission. Anyone have pictures on how the steel fan shroud mounts to the crossmember? I don't see brackets or holes to mount brackest on th crossmember so I'm wondering what happened.

Hi John,
The steel shroud is held in place with a separate bracket at its top, 2 bolts into the shroud and 2 bolts into the core support.
And the bottom of the shroud should have 2 'tab's that point straight down, each about 1" wide and 3" long.
There are 2 small brackets (3"-4") that run from the 'tabs' to the lip on the crossmember directly below the shroud.
Does your shroud have the 'tabs' and do you have the 2 brackets?

This is my 71 shroud and brackets…69 shroud looks to be the same, but brackets might be different.
Here are the 2 tabs with the brackets in place.
There is a right and left bracket, (they only fit one way).
The brackets are stamped with a part number so you can tell which is the right side and left side bracket.
Remember all right side part numbers end in an even digit and all left side part numbers end in an odd digit.

Based on the AIM page Mike posted it appears the 69 bracket configuration may be different????
Here's the 2 holes on my 71 frame. They're on the front lip of the forward crossmember.
I'll be curious to see what you find on your 69 frame.

John: Check page 256 of your AIM. The slots that you're looking for are in a sheet metal piece identified as "Baffle - Rad Lower" (Item 5). You may be missing that part. Also, my understanding is that all 69 base and L46's w/4spd w/o AC came with the Harrison aluminum radiator and metal shroud. My 69 L46 w/4spd w/o AC has a metal shroud (but came with a replacement copper radiator). Does your rad support have the two lower brackets that support the aluminum radiator? Page 256 shows the the brackets in question.

I've driven it less than 100 miles since it's been restored.
However the odometer shows a little over 46,000 miles and most of those
I put on it in 1971 and 1972.
So do those count?

Hi- I have the same power train, L46/manual/no A/C. My AIM manual and NCRS Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide both seem to indicate it should be an aluminum radiator/steel shroud, aluminum expansion tank. Is it possible that the NCRS manual is incorrect?

The new 68-69 NCRS TIM&JG says 69 350HP without A/C could be either Copper or Aluminum. Rich Bizzocos book also discusses 69 L46 with copper radiators. My late production 69 L46 has the copper radiator. The problem today is no one is reproducing a correct copper radiator for this application. You could have yours recored.

1) The NCRS manual I have says third edition. Which edition do you have? Can you post me a picture of the page that describes it?
2) I've never heard of the Rich Bizzocos book, is it avaliable online?
3) The Copper radiator that paragon sells won't fit?
