Heads?????
Ok Guys!!! I've read a lot of threads on here on what heads to go with on a bbc 454 ( currently have peanut). I've been on the search for some 781's with not much luck( or they are way over prices), but I have found 049's.
Well I've called two different machine shops to get prices for having the 049 gone thru and to have a valve job. Each shop has questioned why those heads? And why don't I just go with a aluminum head.
I don't feel like they are trying to to sell me a product so they can make money, they just don't think this is the route I should go.
Just trying to make the right decision.

Much easier to machine aluminum if you are asking for larger valves and porting.
Add up the cost of the heads and the work a machine shop would have to do.
Then price the aftermarket offerings. Edelbrock has some good bang for buck heads.
