Slow window motor
I repositioned the window (because of an uneven gap along the front pillar seal) by the loosening of all window regulator bracket bolts method, and now the window won't even lower via the power switch. Even with the door open and no window/weatherstrip friction, the window will not lower with the power switch alone. It moves a little but stops, and it will lower with hand pressure help, but....
Now it's a '73, probably the original motor. And the relay: I can't recall it's outward appearance when I had the console off. But the last thing I wanna do is buy new parts and find out the part wasn't the problem.
So, my question is: Has anyone here suffered electric window problems after glass adjustment?
Thanks in advance.
Steve
Yes.. and more than likely the motor is the cause. You can power up the motor direct and check this by pulling the connector out of the back. Apply 12 volts to one of the terminals (one side is up one is down) and ground the case.
If the motor responds the same way, replace it. If it doesn't then I would remove the relay, remove the relay cap and inspect the contact points. If they are burned you can re-file them flat.. and try again.
I'm going with the motor as the issue.
