I think the BATT terminal on the fuse block is powered all the time. Not good.

Hello forum. After a great summer cruising, the vet is parked and I am starting a few little projects on her. In preparation, I'm documenting current setup, and to get to this question, am looking at my HEI distributor again. I have what is probably a dumb question, but no luck searching an answer. See pics below. Pic 1, is the layout and firing order which is no doubt the right way, Pic 2 is my car. Note the position of the plug wires left and right of the matters and tach connections. Mine are shifted one position on the cap counterclockwise, firing order is correct, but what I am wondering is why do my wires lay out in different position? Is that a timing thing? Car runs great, but plugs are gapped at .035", and when I tried 0.045" at the beginning of summer, it ran like crap and I went back to the smaller gap. Anyways, that's my question for today. Thanks

S

Standard set up I believe, 7 and 2 to left and right of battery/tach connections,

my car, with 2 and 1 to left and right of battery/tach connections. ???

who ever installed the distributor was off in their installation of it by one cylinder. It doesnt matter on an electric tach but mechanical can cause cable issues

Ah ok thanks. So moving it to the correct location or leaving as is, no impact to timing or operation?
