My opinion is you would be better off with the performer rpm and not trying to fit the air gap under the hood... Besides with the center cutout it would not perform as well as a true dual plane intake with your combination. There are dyno run videos on your tube showing the difference between the two and the airgar has a slight WOT advantage at the cost of power and response everywhere else. it also has no cooling advantage at all once the car reaches operating temp.
These r not the l82 heads these r double hump heads that have been ported polished and after market valves... And milled... We r still looking at 350?
Yeah, man, those "double hump" heads suck. They were one of the best heads you could get for a SBC, back in the day, but their time in the sun was over a looooong time ago, brother. You can get aluminum heads that will kick the crap out of those old "double humps" in every category, 25 hours a day, 8 days a week, for less than a grand. Sorry, Charlie, only the best tuna get to be Starkist. Tune the snot out of it, run it hard, and have fun with it! Maybe someday, pull the heads, see what your deck clearance is, and what kind of pistons you have, and put some good heads on it.

thanks for all of the input greatly appreciated, can someone point me in the direction of lars tune-up documents...
i remember when the what we called "angle plug" heads came out the double hump heads started hitting the garbage cans and that I'm thinking was the late 70's. the 882 heads could very easily flow as good as the other chevy heads but the combustion chamber was too large. there was cracking problems in stock applications but the only ones i ever saw that cracked were several years old and the coolant was nasty and the thermostat failed. i never saw a set crack that had a cooler thermostat and the timing more advanced. that was maintained properly. got a little off topic but the 882 heads got bashed pretty heavily over the years some deserved some not.
They are still old GM heads...Even with work they dont perform as well as most of even the lower end performance heads that come cast without headwork...
I think the cam you have matches the rest of your components well... you dont want a big cam unless the rest of the engine can support it and even then you would need to change the gears in your rear end and get a higher stall converter and then you may not like how the car behaves on the street...
we are really just guessing here... You can always put it on a dyno and find out.... 350hp at the crank is still 250-275hp at the rear wheels.... much better than stock!
