Default calling VBP, product questions

VBP or anyone else who wants to take a stab at this, couple questions:
1) wife's out of town so the front coils (your #460) get cut this weekend. is there a specific end i need to cut? does it matter which end goes up?
EXACTLY how much of the spring do i need to cut for a 1" drop?
2) smart struts: on the '80-'82, does the new strut bracket 'sandwich' the bottom part of the diff like the factory? what is the difference between your poly rod ends and HD rod ends?

I cut one full coil from my VP&B 460's, and that dropped about 1 1/2.

Go with 3/4 cut, install and check it out. It will settle another 1/4 - 1/2 as time goes on.

Mine in the picture are with 235/75/15's (big outside diameter) and 1 1/4 coil cut. A bit too much.

I am on the phone with VP&B right now, buying the spacers for my 17" 1996 Vette wheels. I will ask them your questions.
Back in a bit.

good point and thanks. it's a little lower with the 17" but the ride height is already low enough i scrape going into my own driveway at the wrong angle.

thanks to bryan seery (bseery) for saving the day on my coil spring project. i had figured i would just cut one coil from the spring and that would be that. well, THAT would have been disasterous.
bryan happened to be on the phone with them when i posted my question so he asked for me. VB recommended starting with 1/3 to 1/2 a coil and go from there.
after removing the springs, i eyeballed the top perch to see where the spring was going to rest after it was cut. i decided on a little bit in between and cut a section about 150* out of the top coil. after that, i took my angle grinder and kind of ground a taper on the top 1/4 of the coil trying to provide more surface area for the coil.
got everything back together this morning and took it out for a ride. don't really notice a difference in handling but it has dropped the front, probably somewhere between 1"-1.5".
i like it :yesnod: now, once i get the longer bolts to lower it in the back, it will be very
thanks again, bryan
