i have a LS6 in my 70 vette p/s pb, and a/c the stat is 160 the temp gauge is reading 200 when i stop and shut the car off it's antifreeze out the over flow time. :U jim
1.Drain radiator, fill with 25% antifreeze,75% distilled water, and a bottle or two of "water wetter"
2. New radiator cap
3.Remove front license plate bracket if your state allows only 1 plate
4.Check all radiator support seals and replace if necessary
.More drastic measures if still not cured or satisfied such as:
1.Hi Flow water pump--several good brands(check Jegs or Summit)(beware a new hi-flow water pump may knock things loose and you will have heater core problems)
2. Remove radiator and have it rodded out--many years old
3.New aluminum radiator--several good brands(a bit spendy though)
Other members may have other ideas-not an uncommon problem with the Corvettes
Have you let it belch itself and then settle down to a lower level? They tend to increase in temp after you shut down since the fans aren't running and the block is heat soalked. I know on occasion when I've overfilled mine it belches once or maybe twice and then it's fine. ~Juliet
