I need to replace my cap and wires. Other forum members are using corrected caps on their cars and I really like the way they look. However, I've read reviews about the caps and they con't seem to last long without breaking down inside giving several problems.
To those using one, how are they holding up for you and what brand do you use? Accel seems to be the most problematic so if another brand works well I'd like to know.
Thanks!

My experience is with the "corrected" cap on a Vortec motor... they stink. Truck just wouldn't start one day basically out of nowhere. Replaced cap and rotor and it fired right up. Never had a standard cap fail like that on me. Apparently a very common issue with the SBC Vortec motors, too. It was the most common problems for "my truck won't start/isn't running right" when I was searching.
those things were on the market 30 years ago and accel just bought them recently. they were garbage then and they are garbage now. i picked up a couple cars that wouldn't run years ago for stupid cheap money, changed the caps and they ran fine.
I ran one years ago with no issues. Ran deep into the 10's spinning 7500 rpm.
I bought a new one at a swap meet once though that was put together wrong. Had to use an ohm meter to figure out how crossed up things were inside. I could see that causing some issues! Made a nice pen holder on the desk though.
Get yourself a good quality brand name product with copper contacts....Belding, Standard Ignition, Borg Warner to name a few...NAPA is a good source for some good brands......
Bought an Accel and it had a miss out of the box. Got a replacement but have not installed it. The Blue Streak brass contact cap and rotor work just fine.
