Default Washer reservoir

Hello all, been a while. I searched the forum for the best way to replace the washer reservoir on a 1978 Silver Anniversary. I've worked on Corvettes my entire career, but have never changed one. I noticed in a couple of posts that several have changed the pump which requires taking the reservoir off. I couldn't find any thing about how. Anyone care to share their method?

Thanks,

Ron

On my 79 I had to put the car on stands and get it from the bottom. I moved the vapor canister out of the way first then I could reach the pump connector, and take off the two mounting bolts.
Couldn't get it from up top because of the cruise control in the way. There might be an easier way but this worked for me.

Thanks! That looked to be the easiest way, but it never hurts to ask.

I went from underneath as well. Very tight fit but it will come out. I had already removed my vapor canister so it was somewhat easier. I took the side vent out of the fender on my '81 to get another hand in there.

If you're just trying to get the pump out, you don't have to remove the bottle to do it but it's a careful balancing act. I just replaced my pump a few weeks ago. (78 car)

Unfortunately, mine has a cracked reservoir. It looks like out the bottom is the way to go. Fortunately for me, my executive assistant is 7 and has no problem working in small spaces. Thanks for the responses.

From the bottom is best. I just did this with my 79. I had no problems. Just jacked the car up and removed front drivers tire. Remove rocket panel and then the cover. Remove the screws for the vapor canister and move it out of the way.
Should ve plenty of room to get it out then.

The 2 bolts holding it on were a bit of a pain but not bad...had mine done in about 30 min after it was jacked up.

If you need a new washer bottle, I have my old one with the neck just let me know...I bought new ones so I dont need the old one...I think they are the same for the 78.

Thanks for the reply. I have a new bottle, neck, pump, and complete hose set. The car is currently on stands, so getting to it should be no problem. We intended to take the canister down to make it easier to replace the hoses that attach to it. We'll change the reservoir at the same time.

I got the two bolts from the top with not too much fuss. Used a nut driver. I *believe* it was metric head...
