Does anyone know of a place that sells all the smog required components for the C3 1976 A.I.R. system in a package? Some appear on Ebay, but not for the 1976. Parting out the pieces seems really expensive, but need to get it Smog legal in CA to register.
Offhand, I do not know of anyone having a kit to replace the entire system. The 76 assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows the complete AIR system, the pump, hoses, belts, pullies, fittings, brackets and other related hardware, diagrams of how it installed, and the original GM part numbers. The AIM also shows the cat con installation.
If you advertise in the Parts Wanted forum, you might scare up folks who have some or all of it.
you can try and go to junk yard and find a small block with all components and add em or refurbish them. Or move to another state
I had the same problem with my 76 a few years back like in 05 or 06 I was exempt and I started taking off or breaking all smog stuff only to find out 6 months later that the governator and he lackys veto my exempt and there is always good aftermarket upgrades for a lot of the components to get a few extra hp. headers and intake egr that's have an E.O #'s.
Thank you for your reply and offer. I am interested, but yes the price is pretty steep. Would the hoses and brackets (ie. smog pump) come with the set?
I was curious if anyone has a list of the SMOG components that the SMOG shop goes off of for the visual inspection. I was told a lot of shops won't even know what half this AIR system is and how to look for it.

They do have a list of emissions pieces to check.
I would to have a Pre Check done so they can give you a list of missing equipment.
I wouldn't go to any place though but one that could be helpful.
Or even go see the Ref at Skyline College. I'm sure they could tell you.
Is it cheaper to buy a new engine if you need to buy all the smog equipent for that year?
It maybe a better option to buy a new engine (E-Rod) that is already certified EPA/CARB compliant, but not cheap and what smog equipment would that need.
There are reasonable crate engines not too expensive.
What smog equipment would those need? The thought is if I can upgrade the smog equipment the car would perform better not using the first generation AIR which is really inefficient for getting air to the exhaust.
* This may be the wrong forum to answer these questions.
if your gonna go through all that to do a swap might as well get an ls1 and od tranny and get better fuel economy and hp while smog compliant just make sure you get it BAR certified. How bad are the smog police up north. With a nice car like that I cant believe you haven't found "The Guy" and not worry about smog. Its just wrong we still gotta smog these old cars eventhough they don't get driven that much.
I just went through this with my '76.
It was a federal spec car (4speed) and so did not need an air pump. Passed smog no problem 3 weeks ago.
I do have an old pump, mounting bracket, diverter valve and adjusting bracket if you're interested.
Gotta have all the original smog equiptment in place if its newerthan 75 youll fail the visual. No getting around it
If you do a newer conversion must have ALL the emissions stuff in place from the yr motor. As said ck with your local smog ref
Not much original smog equiptment on your car doesnt really rob any power just put it on you can still make decent power and stay legal.
Edit:you know if youre not worried about all the "correct" restoration stuff you can get universal kits that are way less money meaning AIR tubes, smog pumps check valves etc and are legal.Id use whatever smog manifolds could fit the car long as the cats are in the right place bet it would be just fine.
Far as brackets the corvette tax well, you know... Ugh.

Cuisinartevette- What does a universal kit refer to? Does this mean that there are 350 small block kits that I can use instead of the specific 1976 vette equipment. This sounds awesome, but where to by????
I am very concerned that upgrades are pointless to the exhaust and engine if the original smog equipment needs to be there. Don't want to be a polluter but that OE equipment seems ancient.
GM Sports in Milpitas is long gone will be a " stack N pack " apartment complex in a few months, just the thing needed to help cure our drought conditions
Just linked to Web site, I guess they are in Stockton now. I'll bet my $800 package of new/rebuilt parts will outlast stuff pulled off some yard engine but, whatever the OP wants to do.......
I've been busy, I PMd OP if he's in SF Bay Area I can show him parts in person.
