ChromeVett you can get that stuff at any auto parts store even the smog pumps they arent much. forget sticking 40 yr old parts on imo;not worth it unless the price is right.
yrs ago I had a 75 K5Blazer that had a 454 swapped into it. They just started that test only stuff so I failed. Went and saw the smog ref, told me what I needed. Even with headers and a rumpity cam the guy passed me. Wasnt bad, they just want to see smog stuff on the car maybe things have stiffened up some since then. Bonus is having that smog sticker from the ref, got to have my cake (BB) and eat it too.
On cats it needs to be a Ca certified one there will be a stamp on it;the smog guy will check for it with a mirror on a stick so to speak. try and make the car legit, with the STAR stations around that you can get called into forget hoping they overlook something or take a bribe just doesnt happen anymore. Even my 02 gets called into every copuple yrs for those stations
Think the VIN would tell him if its federal or not but dont quote me Im not expert with C3s..
I just contacted McJacks for some headers that are CA legal and he mentioned that his smog guy heard from a bird that in 2 years they will be passing the 30 year rolling clock. After contact the Air Resources board they said they just turned down last years 2013 repeal of the law and says the rolling clock will probably never be repealed meaning 76 and newer= screwed
