Default RE: 700r4 puzzle

Hello, Everybody

Posted last week for help with a carb install. Thanks everybody! I am having transmission trouble now. My 79 Vette has a 700r4. Shifted with no problems before carb installation. New carb is installed and I have issues. Had a rochester, replaced with a rochester BUT it was rebuild by Holley. The throttle assembly looks the same. I did break the connector on the TV cable and replaced it with another from an old TV cable I had. I don't know if the geometry is wrong on this carb where I need one of those metal bars that correct the geometry or if I have messed up the pre load on the tv cable adjustment for the initial setting, how tight do I pull the cable before tightening the retainer (the philips screw). I believe it is supposed to be tight for the first setting. She runs nice in 1st, 2nd shifts smooth (she is not supposed to, has a shift kit, I dont feel it anymore), third shift feels delayed, 4th shift I have to let off the gas to get it to shift sometimes. She seems to be laboring when I ran up to 80, isn't there supposed to be another shift, overdrive? I used to feel the last shift and rpms would drop. They are 3500 at 80. She used to run lower rpms at 80. What did I screw up now??

Thanks, Steve

Got it. Found a spot on the cable where the screw used to be. Placed the lock nut there and my transmission is happy again. 2300 rpm at 80 mph and she feels fine!
