I see I'm not the only one who has had "heightened" anxiety about VB&P's 460lb front springs. As I don't do my own work, I'd like to pay to cut the height specs are 8" to ground at front of rocker panel, 7.7" at rear. I'm riding around an inch higher than these now, and am not going to get **** about measurements like angles of approach & departure. What have you C-3ers found to be a good compromise between handling and clearance?
Regards to DS, Igor and all who have helped in the past.
runner, i just cut about 1/2 a coil from my 460's last night. still need to get the bolts for the rear but 1/2 coil is worth about an 1". i adjusted my shocks while i had them off and the car seems even less harsh now than it did before i cut the springs. as you cut the spring, you also increase the spring rate. interestingly, the frame has a frequency resonance and the spring rate can affect how well the frame is able to absorb the shocks from suspension compression and rebound. if the springs have a different frequency than the frame, it can adversely affect how well the suspension can do its job. this is how it was explained to me by an engineer who does alot of racing modifications for customers. just from what i've felt since i got the car back on the road this morning, it feels more comfortable without sacrificing handling. these are preliminary observations.
Mine is 6.87" at bottom of rocker panel both front and rear and I don't like it. I want to get it up that one more inch. How do I go about that? I have been considering the vette brakes touring kit that comes with a 9 leaf steel rear spring, front coils, shocks, sway bars, leaf spring mounting kit. What do you all think of that? Will that restore my ride height?
Vette Brakes and products lists a coil spring spacer that )I believe) adds and inch. I believe the rear simply need a spring bolt adjustment to raise or lower the height.

Yeah, what he said. I cut 3/4 of a coil and got a 1 inch drop. I think we have the same springs. I'd go lower but the limiting factor is the exhaust at the differential. Right now that is the lowest point on the car. Once I get the BB in and Hooker sidemounts I'll try for a little lower stance. Right now my fender lip is at 26.5 inches. I'd like to go another 0.5 in drop.
