Looks great, I can't wait to finish mine.. How much for the sign?
thanx vethead...as for the sign all i can tell you is that i will give you guys real special deals if you want one......i obviously cant give them away because even tho i make them they are not cheap...
for example the one in my shop is 17 feet long and about 4 feet high and if i made one like it AND installed it in a customers shop it would be about $200-$225...i could probably duplicate it and ship it to any of you for half that...
although it IS pretty big...most of you would probably use one about half that size, maybe even smaller than that...it basicly depends on size and number of colors involved...
i origanaly just put up the C5 "covette" but it looked unfinished so i added the heartbeat thing as an afterthought...

Too clean to be a garage!!!
J/K :jester
Very nice... As stated above, I wish I had a  place like yours to work on the Corvette.
thanx man...as far as too clean goes...id like to say that its only clean because its new but actually im very **** that way...my workspace is always clean...
get done with a job, clean the tools and put them away...clean the area...
thats the way i like to work...when i need a tool, i know EXACTLY where it is and when i go to put something on the bench, there is always room...
i find that a clean, well lit work area is MUCH more fun to use :)

Good luck on your drive to Carlisle! Here is a tip. Make a sign (after all, you are SIGNGUY) that says something like, "I DROVE all the way from Florida" and you will be a celebrity pick for sure!!
MJ

That's a nice looking shop. It's so much better when you have room to work and to organize. I can understand your excitement. Are you leasing or did you buy it? I would recommend epoxy painting the floor if you own it (or negotiating with the owner to trade the improvement for rent). It is so much better to work on a painted floor.
thanx burners...actually it is part of my sign shop...there used to be a wall at the "vise end" of the workbench and i sub-rented that bay out...
the renters moved out so i took the wall down to do this project...
i lease the store, it is in a plaza...we have tryed unsucessfully to buy the whole plaza...
i stained the floor...i know epoxy would have been better but oh well...its pretty cool even stained...
i have attached a pic of the front of my store...
the double black doors to the left are the doors in front of the vette...
and the overhead storage where im building the stairs is up over the "store" area...
the "store" area and office are actually cubicles built inside of a steel building...
my office is behind the wall that the bench is up against...
i dont know if i explained this very well but i think you can get the picture... :)
its kind of handy being at the store cause i can work on the vette in between sign jobs here and there during the day at work...
problem is (and its really NOT a problem) that i am always busy with sign work...we stay booked about 3-5 weeks ahead at all times...
but i sometimes find myself staying late working on it after i have taken down the open sign... :) OR going in early before i open to "tinker" on it...

Super!

The shop is really coming along. I too remember my first shop. I never wanted to leave. In fact, for the first few months, I found myself spending over nighters to just kick back and relax inside. I had to install a small fridge and recliner and tv/stereo combo. Every once in a while, I had to take a break and did not want to be too far from the project even though, my real business and office was only yards away. I guess that you could say that it was my own separate little territory.

Congratulations!

Aside from the other stuff that was already mentioned, there is not too much more that you need to perform most repairs.

However, I did not see a First Aid Kit, an eye was station, and Oxy /Actylene torch set up or a flammable locker for the paints, solvents, and cleaners.

Be safe! And enjoy that shop. We hope to see it filled with another long term project (perhaps you will buy one in Carlisle) occupying some of that extra space.

 :seeya :seeya :flag :flag

Ah, yes. Familiar story. First you buy the Corvette....then you start spending every free moment working on it....then some not so free moments....then it moves into your place of business....then ????????

Lookin' good!

thank you very much...
as for first aid...yup, got it...in the bathroom...
eye wash station...nope, but its something that i do need to get...
as far as torches goes...i dont really need any...in the rare event that i do need them, the guy next door has some...he rebuilds large electric motors...
unflamable paint locker...hhhmmm...if im not mistaken, im supposed to have one for the sign shop....ssshhhhh!
ok...another project...well maybe your not aware but ive only owned this vette about 3 months...it IS my new project! :yesnod:
but i imagine that i will pick up some "trinkets" while at Carlisle...
they will have to be small ones tho! not much room for me and my girl and all of our (her) stuff as it is LOL !

i am only too aware of what you say!
its scary...its very hard to concentrate on running the store and making signs etc when i know that i can just work on it whenever i want to...
but the problem is that i really cant do that...
it takes a lot of control sometimes but without the business creating cash flow...there is no corvette to work on... :(
thanx for the compliments :)

Nice setup.

i just thought that some of you would like to see the progress on the shop...it has been slow due to the injury to my hand...but it is healing enough now so that i can use it some...still cant hammer tho...

i closed at noon yesterday and locked the door and worked on the shop til 6 pm...
i am an early riser...usually around 5 am...but i woke up at 4 this morning...
i know...its sunday...what can i tell ya...my body clock dosnt know what day it is!

anyway...i went to the shop at around 4:30 and worked on it till about noon...
hung some lights...put a neat sign on the wall...put stuff away etc...
still gotta build some stairs in the corner (where the tires are) they will go up over the office...ive got a pretty big storage area up there...the old ladder that was screwed to the wall wasnt cutting it...

its coming along but its got a ways to go still...the 2 post lift will go where the car is setting in the pix...
the car is up on jack stands cause im gettin ready for the journey to Carlisle in a few weeks...goin thru it pretty good trying to make sure we have no problems on the trip...probably will end up bein about 2500 miles all told...
plus im doin some cosmetic stuff too...i want it lookin as good as it can if you know what i mean... :yesnod:
