new heads -suggestions
Working on my winter project list. 78 pace car, L82, headers, no emmissions stuff, and would like to put some more umph. What heads could I install and not have to change camshaft/remove engine etc.

take your pick any aftermarket aluminum head with a 64 cc combustion chamber will pick up that L-82 just fine,
that cam likes compression . you can go to 1.6 rockers for a little more lift the drivability is amazing with that set up , make sure you have a free flowing exhaust behind the headers and go have fun, a lot of fun.
the last thing i would change is the L-82 camshaft chevrolet stole it from the 350 horsepower engine and was the number 1 street performance cam for many years. there is more modern stuff out there but the drivability is really good with it. the 350/350 was Zora Duntovs favorite street engine.

Budgets, expecations?
Try not to recommend stuff much people just want to argue about it all day

A set of 64cc heads with 180cc runners are a good match for the L82. Brodix IK180s or Dart SHP heads come to mind. If you have an automatic trans with the standard 3.08 rear end I would also consider installing a 2,500 stall converter.

If you can swing the extra money a set of AFR 180 65CC heads with 8020 springs, 1.6 roller rockers and Felpro 1094 head gasket will get you noticeably more power for under $2000 total.
