I'm going to get a set of BF-Goodrich Comp T/A Drag-radials here in a couple of months (possibly sooner). I'll be getting the 275-50-15's. My main concern is, will I be breaking U-joints,axle splines and stuff while running them (on 20psi too)?? I need something street legal, and something that's goind to GRIP. Those look like the best bang for the buck, a littler under 300.00$. What are your opinions??
I don't think that you will have a problem with Drag Radials. Your engine is not all that radical. If the DD2K is close to the actual output - you are probably running approx. 285 - 290 HP on the rear wheels. If your rear end, u-joints and other critical components are in decent shape - there's a good chance that you'll break nothing... However - there's no guarantee!!
Man, your car doesn't have enough power to burn those 195's that are on it, much less 275's. :D ... no seriously, I would think you would lose traction before any breakage occurs, even with a drag radial.
I plan on ordering the same BFG drag radials tomorrow. I am either going with 235/60-15 or 275/50-15 in the rear. I am turning over 500 HP and over 500 lbs-ft of torque through most of the power band. Do I need to worry about anything?
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Re: Drag Radials....Breaking stuff. (BAD-L88)
The drag radials will give you more stick than ordinary radials but not even close to slicks, you'll break them freel before you bust anything provided the rear is solid.
