Restoring my 69...and am replacing heater core...I know probably not needed b/c it is not leaking....but last 2 chevelles I did ended up having this problem.
SOOO since my dash is off, gonna replace. I pulled the fan box off the engine side...is there a gasket that needs to go back on there?
or just a sealant?

Rope caulk works best. Just like original seal, easy to work with, comes off easily "next time" you're in there.
You can pick it up at most any big box hardware store.
