Heating up at highway speeds
My initial guess would have been thermostat, if stuck open the water will flow non stop thru radiator and never get a chance to cool. It stuck closed you'd know pretty quick. Sounds like you got it fixedMy pump seems to be leaking now also after radiator froze driving down the interstate w no antifreeze the other day. After a few over heats, kill engine, cool splash antifreeze in ...repeat few times on way home ... eventually got me home no problem. Topped off no obvious leaks in garage. Days later drive 15 miles , started get hot and lost about 2 gallons...it was all over front of engine and appears leak at bottom of water pump....is that a coincidence? Ice in radiator related? Or freeze plug maybe that near or behind pump?
