Hi JD,
I think some people have reported finding a copy tucked behind the radio on occasion too.
Certainly the one that was on the tank is the most common one to find.
Regards,
Alan
I found the build sheet for my car when dropping the tank today.
Too bad I can't read it. Anything I can do to the paper to enhance the visibility of the printing?
Mine was very similar so I used my wife's makeup brush for the face it has long very soft bristles. It cleared up a lot but not all. I couldn't help but notice the rear valance exhaust is not 69. Round exhaust bezels were on 69 models . Good luck
There isn't much you can do with the tank sticker other than dust it off. Mine was worse than that. I left my sticker on the tank and installed a new tank from Quanta.
My car is a '70. I just thought I'd chime in on the thread since I found my car's sheet after dropping the tank.
I'm thinking of making a set of fiberglass "filler plugs" to insert into the exhaust tip openings since I have Hooker SS side pipes for the car.
My license plate:
Just a thought Zip in Va. sells a piece with a flange. the flange bolts to your existing valance on one side. The other side is a straight edge that you mark a straight line remove the piece and glass in. Sand paint and your done. I don't have a pic but that's what I will be doing to my 69 for the side pipes.

Thanks for the info. I had looked in catalogs and didn't see any fillers. You'd think it would be something that would be a popular item with as many guys that run side exhaust. I'd like to keep it bolt in using the bezel trim screws holes in case I want to change to under car exhaust sometime in the future.
Hi Steve,
As r described there is a valance panel sold that has a tab at each end to fill the part of the opening for the exhaust bezel that extends into each quarter panel. There's one for 68-69, and one for 70-73 cars.
The valance doesn't fit all that well though and requires some fiberglass work on the valance and the quarter panels to make a good looking job before painting. Even at it's best it's just a make do appearance.
As r also mentions the best option is to buy a rear valance panel for a side exhaust car and also 2 fiberglass quarter panel flanges for a side exhaust car. Then you only have to do the fiberglass work on the quarter panels and end up with the appearance of a 69 side exhaust car.
Either way it takes a good bit of effort to get a good appearance.
Corvette Central for example sells the "conversion" filler valance as do other vendors. #143112
Here's an example of a side exhaust valance panel and the filled quarter panels on a 71 car.

Alan

Thanks, Alan! I appreciate the input and the photo! The fillers do have appearance short comings but I think I would like to try that first and see how it would work out. It's much easier to remove a handful of trim screws than to replace the rear valance. And even though I want my car to be nice and well detailed I am willing to make some compromises in the name of functionality. Plus, they're way better than no fillers at all.
