After removing my control arms to replace the bushings I noticed that one of my lowers was bashed in a way I had never noticed before. After getting a replacement from a junkyard I noticed that it has what looks like a lug nut welded to the steering knuckle stop. Has anyone seen this before? Was there something that attached here on later cars or is this bubba lowering the turning radius?
The general never did that.
I'd guess your on the right track, someone put oversize tires (or funny offset rims) and this was to keep them from rubbing the frame/fenders

Hi SS,
An owner inspired addition.
Perhaps the car had considerably wider tires on the front and the nut prevented the steering from tuning so far that the tires rubbed on the frame?
Looks like a lug nut. Probably just used 1 less on that wheel!

Alan
Hi M, One thought in 2 places at the same time! Isn't the internet amazing?!?!?!
Hi Alan
I'm still scratching my head that someone actually saw the problem and bothered to create a new stop point and then choose that as the best way to do it...
