Pic request

Im having a hard time getting my AC brackets to line up. Car is a 78 L48. Can anyone get me good pics of the mounting brackets with the compressor installed (R4)? Im having a hard time seeing what I need on the AM. Brackets look right, but the compressor is about an inch away from the adjuster bracket.

Alternative, does anyone know of a good aftermarket bracket for R4 compressors?

Yes, but the holes should be the same right? The bolts line up fine on the lower part of the bracket (water pump bolt and the shared bolt on the head). Its a complete after market motor, nothing original about it.

I've seen some heads that the holes are in the right place just they don't come as far out as factory you may have to make spacers. without seeing it kinda hard to say.

Sorta...I had the lower brace upside down, blocking the water hose. That shoulda been self explanatory

Id like to see the orientation of the compressor itself and how it looks installed. Front front and back if anyone has it.

Yeah, I think that may be the case. I found a spacer that's about 3/4" and that seems to work ok. Im not sure I have the compressor in the right orientation though. In order to get everything to line up I started with the front bolts and worked my way up and back. Now the hole that goes into the exhaust bolt isn't lining up. I may have to attack a few of the holes in the bracket with a dremel to give me some room.

I wouldn't mind an aftermarket bracket, but I cant seem to find one for an R4 compressor. Its pretty annoying actually...plenty of R4 brackets for LS engines though

If you still have the AC lines in place, hold them up to the compressor. They usually stay in the same shape over years of being in place. That will give you the original clocking of the compressor. The clutch plug is always on top or clocked toward the passenger side fender.
