tach Drive Distributer Button question
This is a new car to me and looking through the cars history there seems to ba a lot of tach drive gears eaten over the decades, but more lately. this is a new distributer with no issues installed in April, I picked it up last month & the tach quit. the cable is fine.
Is there a problem on the cable side contributing to this OR
Also I have uncovered some shoddy work from this shop and they could have forgotten the insert.

Internal gear stripping is not uncommon on gear drive tachs. My car was like this when I bought it. If you remove the cable from the distributor, you should be able to stick a tool/small screw driver into the housing and try to rotate it. There shouldn't be much play.
The problem could be either end, you just have to track it down.
