Can anyone explain to me how I can bench test a windshield wiper motor out of a 1978 corvette...and how can I tell if it has intermitent (pulse) capability ...??
Thanks
Brian
OK...thanks...bench tested it and it works...but how do you tell if it has the intermitent function.. able to adjust speed....it worked ok for high speed and low speed...but how do you tell if the motor is has the intermitent function that you can adjust speed, I think refered to as pulse...?????

The intermittent function has nothing to do with the wiper motor and is controlled by a combination of the switch (which on pulse wiper cars, the switch has a variable potentiometer inside it) and a controller box mounted in the shift console. If the motor works on the bench you can scratch it off your list of problems.
Then what is the red wire for that comes out of the black plastic cover for...I have one on my 1978 (pace car) but dont see it on alot of used (wiper motors) ones for sale that say they are from a 1978...??? it seems to go to a wire harness...went to car show and looked on another 1978 and they had it also...but then again another one did not...kinda confused about the wire...???
Thanks
The wire is for arm location... so the arms stay in time with the controller.. If you look behind the cover you'll see the crank has a pin on it that hits the sweep as it comes around. The entire function of the delay is controlled by the switch and the controller box in your console.
