Default Front spring question

I just got these springs from Summit for my 1979.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mog-5762

They are supposed to be stock height but they are 2.5 inches shorter than my old springs. They measure 12.5" high and my old springs are 15". What is the height of a stock spring?

From this pic with the old springs I don't think a 2.5" drop will have enough clearance.

Many new springs are shorter and have thicker coils. Mine were a little stiffer from VBP and about 3 inches shorter than the original and lowered the car about an inch, which is how they were advertised. If you bought stock replacement springs your height shouldn't change because the new shorter springs won't compress as much when you put the weight of the car on them.

I just installed a set of the TRW 'stock replacement' springs and they too were quite a bit shorter that the originals. The settled ride height is spot on as far as I can tell. Some sites list them as 'Grand Touring' springs as they are a bit heavier than stock.

I just installed Moog in my 82 and my stock springs where almost 4 inches taller. The Moog landed the car within a 1/2 inch of stock.
Just pay close attention to the spring pocket! It must be indexed and set in perfect or you'll find the car sitting an inch higher.

I had the same issue with the Moog 5762s. I did some searching on the forum and found out that they have a different spring rate then the the factory springs. They went back in much easier and the ride height remained the same after installation.

can you post details on the car after the install, such as height to cent of wheels well, size tires, alum heads, intake, rad, and weightadded or removed?

My VB&P 550 springs were about 3 or 4 in shorter than springs that I had from Mid America from many years ago. But the 550 springs do lower the car 1 in.
