I have an issue with my '72 LT1 coupe. I just completed a four year frame-off restoration that included a professional engine build on the original LT1 350. Here's the issue.
The engine runs great expect under hard acceleration it misfires. For example, if I'm running in second gear at 2500 RPM and go to wide open throttle, the engine misfires under it reaches 4500 or 5000 RPM then it will rev fine to the redline.
I'm running the stock distributor with points which trigger the MSD unit, high-quality 7 MM wires, AC R44T plugs gapped at .045 in, and a MSD coil.
You say your triggering a MSD box with your points set? I would gap the plugs at 0.035 and eliminate the MSD for the time being as the market has been flooded with fake MSD boxes from China. I run Pertronix Ignitor 3 units with their black 0.32ohm coils on my Vettes with complete reliability. My other thoughts are ignition timing and possibly the wrong power valve in the carb.
