Sad to hear. I remember an old video -probably still out there somewhere- of Duntov doing the track testing of the new C2. Dr. Thompson was one of the track drivers as I recall. He's probably not well known to many of the younger Corvette owners but he was the King of the track with what he did with the C1s. He was very well known back in his day.
Very sad news,it would be nice if the factory Corvette racing team would honor him in a significant way,he was that important to them in the eary years.
Sad indeed to lose another Corvette legend. He lived a good long life.
I saw him race the Stingray Racer at Laguna Seca c.1960. He drove much of the race with no brakes, typical for road race Corvettes of that era.
