Default shift cable bracket. Fed Up

OK, I've been trying to find the correct bracket for the shift cable on my 81. It has a TH350 tranny. The pic shows the 2 brackets I have. The one w/ the square hole (rt) is mounted with the pin inboard facing the trans and is the one I am told is actually the correct one and appears to be similar to the one in the AIM however, when attaching the cable to it, the cable rubs on the trans pan. Looking at pic in AIM it appears there is supposed to be another pin that protrudes outward. If so, where can these be obtained?

Thx

Whats the problem here? Is it that no one knows the answer? I tried attaching a pin for a carb but the alignment is off.

yea if I turn it around the bracket rubs the pan. I read on another site that you can buy a pin for a carb that is similar to the stock pin and install it. I tried that but it doesnt align. and I cant see a way to adjust cable length to make it fit.
It's driving me crazy.

This is how the cables are attached on my TH400. It looks like the bracket
on the right is similar.

Hope this might help.

Donnie

The pin protruding from the bracket toward the pan is not for the shift cable but for the interlock cable from earlier years. The shift cable pin is bolted to the slotted hole and that pin points away from the trans. If it doesn't align, maybe the linkage inside the trans is bent from someone twisting on it too hard getting the nut on or off.
