Last call on this topic! I have in my garage on the OEM Aluminum rims 255/60/15 S rated BFG TA tires which I used for years and there is zero comparison in the braking department wet or dry with these tires and my current ultra high performance 255/45/17 ZR's-braking wet or dry-not turning, Not ride, not handling. Real world comparison validates the spec sheet differences. Since there seems to be a real disconnect between the OP question and braking in the rain, let's try and be crystal clear here: Ultra high Performance tires will perform the BEST in wet braking everyday over a S/T rated tire-all day and every day. That is the connection between a performance tire and the OP's question. Can't be any clearer....

I'm confused. The Firehawk Indy 500 beats the BFG Radial T/A in every survey category except the "would you buy again" question so how can the survey results be interpreted to mean the OP should replace his Indy 500 tires with Radial T/A's to get better wet weather performance (or dry, or ride etc)?
jb78L-82 is right, the Radial T/A tires are average performers. They're not a tire I would recommend if you're looking for a high performing wet and dry summer tire. I don't know of any good 15" tires that are worth recommending. There's a good reason anyone who wants high performance tires is switching to 17" or larger wheels.
Actually the OP asked about brake pads or anything else that could help his situation.

He also never told us if all the brakes are locking up in the rain or just the front brakes are locking up.
He should not be locking up the brakes at that speed in the rain with any tire, performance or not. (unless you are standing on the pedal)
Either way it sounds as is he has a problem with the braking system.
We are all guessing without knowing exactly what is happening I have seen some really expensive brake systems ****ed up by people that haven't got a clue as to what they are doing.
Sounds to me like the master cylinder push rod adjustment is off....too long of a length will cause touchy brakes. Take your MC off the Hydro Boost unit and adjust the push rod protrusion out of the Hydro Boost unit.
