I have Bilsteins on four different Corvettes and two pickups and have been very pleased with them. I prefer the Heavy Duty's on my Corvettes just because I like the firmer ride. I also autocross and feel that the Bilsteins represent one of the best values in improving the handling of an otherwise stock Corvette.
These have been on for over 15 years and still preform superbly.
i have QA1 shocks and they made a huge improvement. i had billstiens on a couple other cars and they are ery good too. QA! shocks are rebuildable if that matters.
There are a few good options. Basic advice is to stay away from mass market shocks like Monroe, Gabriel, KYB etc.IMCO, Bilsteins provide the best bang for the buck in terms of ride, handling, and general performance. Shocks are like tires-you generally get more performance if you spend more.....I have Bilstein HD's with 550 front springs and Sports in the rear with a 360 monospring. The ride and handling is superb....not harsh but firm.
I also use Bilstein's on my 94 Mustang GT Convertible (6 shocks/struts), putting on my 2010 C6Z06 (putting on Special Valved Bilstein Sports-Doug Rippie Motorsports), and 2008 Chrysler 300 (HD's). Lots of experience with shock/struts over 30 years-take it for what it is worth. I do use mass market struts on my DD 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix -Monroe Sensatrac springs/struts F/R for a 2001 Impala Police Pkg cars-not bad.....my 2008 Chrysler 300 Bilstein HD's are actually firmer.......
Just put Bilstein HD on and love em. Big improvement over the 15 year old Gabriel's. Had Bilstein on my FJ Cruiser too, that I recently sold. They were great on there too

Don't mean to hijack . . quick question . .
Are those VR Gatorback's? What size? How old are they?

Yes, they are Gatorbacks. 255/60-VR15's, the picture is a few years old. Had them on all 4 corners for years. Finally had to replace the front ones with 225/60-VR15's. Been considering these for a while now as a replacement... http://www.kelseytire.com/pages/larg...GT-Radial.html
Bilstein SPORTS are the stiffer one's... the HD are softer... So, for racing, Sports... for cruising, HD... both good... if you have a fiber rear spring... then only the Sports... you need a very good shock to control the reactiveness on the carbon spring.
