Default Question - Posi / Differential

I wanted to ask a question to everyone with respect to upgrading my Dana 44 to a posi carrier unit. I'm considering 3 options...

1. Buy/build a new carrier unit using a new gm series 3 carriers and new spider gears.
2. Buy a used carrier unit and rebuild it
3. Buy a new aftermarket carrier

Thanks for any input / suggestions...

It depends. What are you working on? Which D44? There are two common ones but they are totally different from each other.

If you're running the big block or high HP small block with a manual, I would go aftermarket posi unit but the stock units hold up well.
Are you having problems or just looking to make everything new?
