Pulled the power antenna out today. It does not work. PO put in a newer radio and not sure if it has the right stuff to control the poer anteen. As you can see in the picture some just pulled the wires off. Accordi gtto the build info I have there should also be a relay mounted on the frame. No relay but there is a.red, black and white wire hanging there that looks ripped of of its mount..
Is there a way to test the antenna using a battery charger as a 12 volt power source out of the car.
A second question. What is the black wire for. It is boled to the mast like the cabe to the radio. It has a cap on the end. Could it be for a CB radio which was an option in 1978?
Yes you can test it out of the car.....and the relay I believe is under the arm rest/hand brake cover on the passenger side. The wires coming out of the motor should be green, gray and white.
Look on Willcox's site and see if you can find the bench test for it. I believe it has been recently talked about... so do a search for it. I do not have my schematic her at home ...or I could tell you .
Without a picture of it...I have to assume that it is the ground.
Thanks DUB. I did not find anything at wilcox but I did find the thread which is a great help. I have three wirea with the antenna: whit, grey and green. I do not have any of these wires coming through the grommet to the cabin. I do have a red, white and black wire. I have a wire diagram but it does not show any of these wire. I will just keep at it. Not an emergency.
