Hey guys, 1st time poster. I stumbled upon this forum a few weeks ago and have been mainly reading but I've got a problem that I think you guys could help me with.
I have a '72 that has a problem with the locking mechanism on the drivers side door. Sometimes the door doesn't want to stay closed. Normally this isn't a problem, I re-open it and close it again and it sticks. Anyway, today that didn't happen so what I ended up doing was locking the door closed so I could get to work (other car is getting service done). Well, I guess the lock is broken also because I can't get it unlocked (from the inside or outside).
Is there a way I can get the door unlocked from the inside (near the door jam somewhere?) so it doesn't take me 15 minutes to get out of the car? I'll take it and get it fixed this week but right now this door not opening is a real pain
Thanks guys
Great forum BTW!!
Here's a pic, not that it would help w/ my door problem :smash:

Re: Door Lock issues... (stingray-72)
Sorry I am not gonna be much help but it sounds like you will have to try to get the door panel off and make some adjustments.
BTW, welcome to the forum and that is one nice looking ride. I love that color combo on your car. I think you will like it here. Someone with knowledge of this problem will chime in soon.
I know its possible to release the latch with a screwdriver when the panel is off from personal experience. :bb With the panel in place it becomes problematic. You may have to remove the seat and pry the panel loose in order to get at the mechanism.
You can take the door panel off from the inside with the door closed (although you'll learn some new positions). You'll need the panel off anyway to fix the problem. One of your rods probably came loose.
