1976 door uneven help please

Default 1976 door uneven help please

I came out one mooring to find my c3s passenger door uneven and i didn't know how or why it happened? and i don't know how to adjust it if anyone knows how or why this happened please let me know here are some pictures of the door. in the pictures the one from the side looks okay but the one that shows from the back facing forward looks way off.

I had something like that happen to my 81. It turned out to be the hinge pin was loose because the bushing broke and fell out.

open the door, go to the rear o9f the door and pull up on it, then release it. if it moves up and down, hinge pins are cooked. not a hard fix. be sure the hinge bolts are all tight. if they are it's hinge pins.

Hinge pin failure makes the door go lower, not higher.

I'd suspect a failure in the rear body mounts... Either the bushings have failed or the actual mount bracket has rusted and the bushings are falling through... The gap you show is something we'd access as two shims difference. This meaning.... if you brought the car into our shop and looking at that gap.. I'd surmise that you need to add two shims to the rear most body mounts to close it up..
