First I want to thank eveyone who responded to my previous request which was for information on a replacement Griffin Radiator. I hope to have my sidepipes and the spiral turbo baffles from Jim on the car by the end of the weekend. The car has been down for over a month now and I hope to have her back on the road soon. I've done a lot of engine modifications.
Anyway, I need a little more help. I have noticed that there has been a lot of discussion about the 17" Torque Thrust II wheels on the forum. They are awesome and I have decided to go ahead and put them on my car while she's down. I want 8" wide in the front for 255's and 9 1/2" on the rear for 285's. I am also running the stock rear sway bar that comes on a pace car. I don't want to give this sway bar up. What are the backspaces that I need to clear everything and stay in the wheelwell as much as possible? I don't mind relocating the bracket for the emergency brake.
AFAIK, it's not the sway bar but the brake line mount than needs to be moved
The ebrake braket needs to be relocated to another place on the trailing arm. Also, you need to be careful with the BS on the wheel or it will hit the spring.
Someone will give you more details and exact measures for that.
Do you have a red C4 with a wing on it? Ever been to Sarasota Florida? Did you ever get your computer problem solved? If that's you that's one bad C4, and thanks for the ride it was fun.
I always here about modications to make the Torque Thrusts fit. I only had to change the balence in my check book. Mine are 17 x 8. The same width as a 15 x 8 (OK 15 x7 in '68 but I digress) so as long as you have the same back spacing (4") the only difference is wheel diameter. So you just use a shorter tire if you want your speedometer accurate. I run 255 45 ZR17's. The 255 50 17's would probably be closer to exact diameter but it leaves it a little tight in the front and I didn't want different sizes on the front and back so can rotate them. I have F41 suspention, and have no rear sway bar rub.
