We started tearing down the 270 horse 350 out of our 71 coupe last weekend. We found the oil pump to be packed with a large handfull of shredded plastic chips. We haven`t got the front cover off yet, but I`m wondering if it might be the remains of the timing gear? Any thoughts on what it might be?
We also found one pushrod with a very slight... but noticeable... bend to it. All the piston tops look good.
We are the 3rd owner of the car, engine pad stamp matches VIN, and we were told it only has 100,000 on it.
Glad they worked for you! We did get that door, but we`ll have to wait till the Turkey Run to see if we can get the other one, and some fenders for it.
