I think my 77 might have build sheets all over it but can't tell. There are two GM sheets on the underside, one on the front spoiler and one on the frame. One of them is perfectly intact (minus the type!) and the other only sort of flaking away.
Did GM randomly put stickers wherever they felt like it? Is there any way to recover the type? Crazy spy toys or something? I can not believe that I have never seen them before... it's like when I found the jack after 3 years! I also can't believe the stuff that survives, my car has been so abused and still has hints of its youth
Birthdays- the trim tag says E 02. Nov '76 ended with #14216. Mine is #14636. Does this make it's B-day Dec 02, 1976?
And now a picky stupid question...
Can anyone explain the option 'ZX2' convenience group? I think I have it but there is no mirror in the passenger side visor. And I thought mirrored visors started in 78 or 79? The other stuff (remnant of underhood light, driver side footwell light comes on and delays when you open the passenger side door in the rain, broken low fuel light etc.), is there. I have suddenly become curious of my car's past
Thanks,
Jim
You are right Jim, your car was built Dec 2 and mine was built Dec 6. I am not aware of any build sheets found at the locations you describe. The most common place of course was top of the gas tank. Other known locations were between the speedo and tac, under carpet behind the driver seat and battery box.
The ZX2 option included:
stay lit feature for courtesy and dome lights
visor mirror
headlights on buzzer
low fuel indicator
engine compartment light
There could be extra build sheets on your car. They can possibly be found behind your tach, inside door panels, and under carpets and other areas. Every corvette had up to 7 build sheets attached along the assembly line to help the workers determine what options were on the car. the were supposed to discard them except for the tank sticker, however it was very common that they would just wad them up and leave them in the car. you :chevy
