Yes and weatherstrip cement. Do you have the assembly manual? IIRC, one of the rivets you can get to from outside the car. You have to remove the interior trim panel to get to the other two.
Just did this last month. remove the interior panel first. Drill out the rivets heads, and scrape off the old seal, and then the old glue - be sure its all very clean. Buy the replacement rivets - I saved the old ones to make sure they aren't too long - I had to cut down the new ones. Use the 3M black glue - apply to both surfaces and sit aside until you can touch the glue without it sticking to your fingers. The tricky part was installing the new seal so that the rivet holes line up, because when the glue sticks wow - there's no moving it. Install the rivets carefully, and install the interior panel.
Now you may have a surprise like I did - the new seal will effect the window going up with the door closed - anyway it did mine! Boy was it a real mother getting it adjusted JUST right. Also keep the window up-door closed - it helps the soften the new seal some - just my opinion. Good luck.
On a 1979...the rear vertical window weatherstrips. All of the rivets are installed from the inside. When I have drilled out the old rivets...I drill them all out from the inside. I have never installed the bottom one from the outside....simply because the rivet would damage the SMC when ti is beginning to compress. And the bottom 3/16" diameter rivet is longer than the top 2.
Also..I do not use a glue...I use a sealer that will do the same and NOT allow water to get under the weatherstrip.
