Default antenna wiring issues2

My antenna has three wires green gray and white. They are cut off and just hanging there. Coming into the fender area I have three wires red, white and black. The ends look like they have been ripped apart, they are shredded. The wiring diagram that I have does not show any cicuits for the power antenna.

Under the console behind the emergency brake I have a relay. The orange wire has power all the time. The yellow wire when I turn on the ignition. When I turn on the igition I get a click from the relay. Ccoming out of the relay I have the red, white and black wires goig to the rear fender. I do not have any power on any of those wires.

So, how can I test that relay?

More misterous, was there something between the set of red white and black wire to connect to the green white and gray on the antenna?

FWIW, the original radio might have been a CB too as there is a gray thing on the top section of the mast and I have a red cam in the antenna assembly.

Hope someone can help me out!

The wires coming out of your relay SHOULD be white/gray/green as are the wires at the antenna.
I know 77 and earlier Cadillacs and other GM products did use the red/black/white.
But all 78 to 82 Corvettes I've seen use the white/gray/green. Is yours a very early 78? Maybe a few early cars came through with the early harness and your antenna was changed at some point.
You can use my pic to compare which of your wires should be white/gray/green and splice accordingly.

The gray load coil and red cam are CB(and I see from an earlier antenna thread of yours that it has the CB pigtail on the mast tube, too)

Thanks KapsSa and DUB

I thought I put the year in my post but forgot. Car is a 78 and body build date is October '77.. so you might be right that car was built with carryover antenna which was later changed. The red black and white wire looks factory original but I could be wrong. Might have been changed at some point.

This is the relay. Notice the poor condition of the wres. Insulation looks melted! No idea how that could happen. Maybe I should buy a new relay and the two plugs and reconnect?

I thought the antenna was original. In another thread someone said the number on the electric motor incldes a date code. The number on mine is 22010661 and 325 79. Maybe the second set of numbers is a date code for march 25 1979? Which would make it a replacement.

I have no power coming from the relay although it clicks when I turn on the ignition. Makes me think I have a bad relay. Also going to have MastsRUs rebuild the antenna assembly. I m sure I'm close at that point.
Any other suggestions are surely welcomed

Jim

I admit I know nothing about this circuit,...

but I do know that Orange wire going to that relay appears to have gotten really hot for some bad reason.

In your pic the orange(always hot) and black(ground) wires look fused together. Not good!
Date on your antenna is 325th day of 1979, obviously a replacement.
I have nos relay/plugs/harnesses if you're interested. The green and orange/yellow harnesses. $30 for the relay, $30 for the 2 harnesses, plus shipping.
Ignore the antenna, that's Late 79-82 but the rest is correct.

I just finished testing relay. Power to it is right but I have nothing coming out of it. Was going to add to my thread where can I get a new one with goods plugs. I'll send you a Pm with contact info.

While I am it, maybe you have the electric motor an thw white cam? As you can see I melted the whie cam while heating up one of the screws holding the motor on. Yeah, im stupid!

I saw in one of your earlier threads you had an AM / FM / CB radio for sale. Do you still have one?

Thanks
Jim
