Difficult to reach with the dash in place. It's dark up there.

Hi 73,
The hinge bolts are reached through these 2 rectangular openings.
Access to them is very limited (maybe impossible) with the dash pad and aero-vent duct in place.
You can reach up to the bolts through the access hole for the lower hinges, (you can see it in the picture), but it's going to be a slow and tedious job getting the four bolts out…. and then back in.
Taking the dash pad out is involved and difficult too…. so I don't think there's an answer that will make you happy!
Sorry!
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan, I was wondering if the color green for the frame in your picture was factory or did you do that . I like the color and wanted to paint the inside.
Thank You

I believe the shade of the zinc chromate green primer varied as the years went by.

These show the shade on my car 'fairly well'.

Boy Alan that looks so nice and fresh, real nice.

I have to agree with Alan, it's pretty much impossible to reach in there with a ratchet. Passenger side would be easier but still tuff.

In case your not aware, to get the dash off, lower dash comes off steering column and rag joint comes right out, upper dash comes out but need to unhook speedo, tach, speedo trip, wiring harness is clipped back there, vent tube, all bulbs, steering column plugs

Putting the vent tube back and lining up the rag joint is a pain as well when replacing it all.

I need to go thru this as well when I line up my doors. But I'm at the point where this isn't a major job after frame repair including new belly pan and new #3 frame x member, firewall reattachment, most underbody plate replacement, etc.

Just curious as to why you need to do this.
