Went OLD SCHOOL!!! Mostly because I could never find a full set of what I liked…either the rims wouldn't fit the tire size or the rims that fit would not go on the car lol.

There is nothing new about gray spokes TTIIs. They are about as period correct as you can get. They look great on your car.

New. The old look like you stuffed over sized truck tires under it.

I loved my C3 15 inch aluminum rims but just could not stand the lack of any real performance from the 15 inch tires available for them so made the switch to 17 inch SLP's a few years ago-255/45/17 ZR summer only ultra high performance tires. The tire transformed the ride, braking, steering and handling-would never go back UNLESS someone finally would make the OEM C3 aluminum rim in a 17/18 inch size so that I could run real performance tires with the rims….

I've often thought the same thing... when my tires were showing signs of dry-rot at the shoulder, I decided to bite the bullet and go 18s. Only BFG Radial T/As were available and they cost nearly as much as the Conti ExtremeContact DW tires I bought for the 18s....

I agree they are a lot of tire. When I first got the car I put the 245/60r15s all around. To me the rear just didn't fill the wheel well. So I guessed and picked the 275s for the rear. If I could do over I would have 235s on front and 255s on the rear. On the other hand I am running a 4.11 gear with no overdrive so the more tire the better. They are also the same size as my 28x9 slicks.

I will probably never like the look of short sidewall tires. On new cars they get really bad begin to look like a thin rubber band wrapped around a wheel not interested in looking at the caliper either. On a lot of old cars camaro's i like the 5 spoke older look if the wheels are tucked inside the wheelwell nicely done. it just not work for me on a vette looks out of place. I vote for the factory wheels.

I appreciate the input from everyone. My goal was to retain the look I had but to upgrade to a performance tire. I see now it is just not possible. I think I came as close as I will ever get but the new set just gives the car a modern look. Not that this is a bad thing it is just different. I think I will keep both sets but run the 15 most of the time. Probably just use the new ones for autocross and road racing. Thanks

there is another option, lower the car. that would fill the wheel well up and make the car handle better.

You can actually achieve both objectives as long as you do not go too low a profile with the performance tire. The picture above has 255/45/17 ZR fronts and 255/50/17 ZR'S rear with the OEM L-82 engine since I needed to retain the overall diameter of the new tire as the old 255/60/15's in the rear with 3.70 gears-did not want more rev's with the newer tire. I am planing to cut a front coil this winter since with the new aluminum head 355 L-82, the front has risen a bit-it was slightly high before with the iron 882 OEM heads.

I'm running slotted wheels myself with 275's back and 225's front. I wanted new rims until I pulled the slotted wheels off and took a mother's wheel polish ball on a drill and almost had then looking like chrome. It's amazing how much different they look with a good polish. Yours look like new condition like mine. I'd go old school, but both are nice. The hood is off mine right now getting shot matte black and I'm going to limo tint the windows . That is until my long hood with scoop comes in to replace the wiper door.

I like your look. Are these a C4 wheel? I am guessing you have some type of wheel spacers?

No they are not C4 wheels nor do they have any spacers. They are SLP hyper black 17 inch rims made specifically for C3's with no modifications. I paid $600 for all 4 new with free shipping a few years ago. I don't believe that you can still buy them new.

Nice choice. To me they don't give the appearance of a 17 inch wheel. The TT2s I have look deep dish to me and not sure I care for that.
