I believe all of the Chevy drop-base air cleaners had about the same drop. The only real difference is in the placement of the air tube that connects to the valve cover. If you look at the one in the image you provided, you can see that the air tube exits on the passenger side and there is another position (on the drivers side) that is blocked.
If you decide to use the Chevy base, check out where the air tube exits that particular base and just pick the one that suits your application best.
Also, to clear some carbs (in my case a Demon) you may have to dimple it where it sits on the float adjustment screws to get it to sit flat. Or if it is close use a double carb to air cleaner gasket to give you the clearance.
I have measured several. The one in the picture was the deepest; I am currently using it with a 2" drop IIRC. Another GM I measured was about 1 5/8"; aftermarket bases have been 1 to 1.5" of drop.
Who makes the deepest drop air cleaner base? Is the L88 style like below the deepest or is there something else with more drop?..........
I have an AFCO......2" drop, but designed with a bubble top so air has a ram effect into a 3" element with no restriction. Fits completely around a Holley or Demon with no linkage interference.
