Default Hard To Roll Backwards

72/4 speed car. I have noticed recently that the car seemed hard to back up, like the parking brake was on. I jacked up the rear end and tried turning the wheels by hand. It was very difficult to turn them backwards, not so much forwards. I also noticed that when rolling them forwards there is a point when they seem to bind and then get easier to roll. My first thought was the parking brake was binding, so I loosened the cables and it made no difference. Also, the rotors are no longer riveted on and they did not appear to be stuck, making me wonder if the parking brake is the issue. U joints seem OK. Before I start tearing into the rear bakes is there anything obvious I am missing?
Thanks

With the rear jacked up and the wheels just hanging, the u-joints will bind a bit. You need to raise the rear wheels some so they don't bind.

Have you checked toe in/out? I noticed that too much toe will make it harder to roll the car by hand. As to whether this is noticeable with the motor, I don't know. And as to whether it is the same in either direction that seems likely but I can't say for sure.

Thanks for the replies. Turns out it was the parking brake sticking on the drivers side. I got it un-stuck but eventually I will have to take it apart and fix it right.
