Sounds great! What transmission did you have originally? Were any mods needed to the chassis or was it truly 'PerfectFit'? Can you describe more how it is a different car? More comfortable cruising RPMs on highway? What year is your car?
My car is 1970 with a 350 and originally a Turbo400. There were no mods needed for the chassis and it was a “PerfectFit”, or as much it can be for a 44 year old car anyway. Seems like even though these were all built the same and on the same factory line, they are all just a little bit different from each other. I did have to buy a smaller starter as there were some clearance problems with the one I had. The shifter hole on the tunnel was for some reason bigger than the plate that came with the kit. We just fabricated a new one which was not a big deal. The real pain was pulling the dashboard out on the driver’s side to install the pedals. And it’s different car in the sense that manual transmissions in Corvettes are just plain fun, and the fact that I can cruise at highway and interstate speeds in complete comfort. I’m turning about 2000 at 75MPH in 5th gear. Night and day difference.
If you go with a Richmond, get a Long shifter. They are miles ahead of the Hurst. Also, use Redline's manual transmission fluid (not rear end gear diff oil). It smooths out the shifts alot due to higher friction for the synchro's. The 5 speed fits perfectly in a C3 and you only have to modify the transmission mount some, which they provide instructions for in the installation manual.
Which richmond model ?
Street 5 speed
5 Speed road race
Street 5 speed with O.D
When I contacted them most of these transmissions are not being manufactured
The Super T10 4 speed can be purchased and will be releasing the Super Street 5 speed very shortly but the 6 speed is not being offered at this time.

I originally purchased the street 5 speed 10+ yrs ago, and have subsequently modified it with the 5 speed road race parts. However, Richmond has been purchased by another company and I know the transmissions/parts can be hard to find right now.

Thanks. My 72 is a 4-speed now, but thinking about the 5- speed for lower RPMs on the highway.
Can you explain why not to buy from them. They may be hungry and give ultimate support. Every company at some time is a startup. If you don't give anyone of them a chance nobody will be in business.
if they have everything in stock then I would say yes, and from what im hearing give em a shot, I ordered my t56 and had at my door in 3 days.
• No down payments required to order - we do not take money until kit is packed and ready to ship.
• Kits ALWAYS ship complete with no backorders
• Friendly phone support
• We actually answer our phones
• Did I mention FAST shipping? Popular kits ship in 24-48 hours.
What's not to like? I'm open to suggestions if there is something we can do better.
I just checked out their website. I wanted to see some ballpark prices so I could see if it was something I could afford. The only option I saw was 'contact us for a quote'....I think that will scare many guys like myself off who think "if you have to ask, you cant afford it'.
This is an interesting comment and I appreciate you bringing it up. We don't have published kit prices because the prices do vary a bit from car to car due to possible additions for accessories or other parts to convert from auto to manual.
-Base TKO 5-600 kit $3499.00 (through 12/31/2014)
-Add $1240 for an auto to manual conversion (C3)
-Add for shipping based on location
TO ALL: Would the ability to purchase these kits directly though the website without having to call be appealing?

Silver Sports Transmission.... do you guys give a forum discount?
We don't have any official discounts running other than a year end promotion but that doesn't mean we can't be talked into something additional for CF members.
Our half-off-triple-the-price discount is my favorite.
I have been looking for over a year to upgrade my Muncie 4 speed transmission with a 5 speed in my 1968 427, 435, 4"11 Corvette. After much reviewing, calculating and sole searching, I placed my order with Silver Sport today! Can't wait to get it installed and get the benefits from the overdrive!!!
With some dealers of parts advertising prices can get them in trouble with the mfr. Good to see somoene has picked up the ball on these trannies and making them available. If you want one just call.
Have a t56 which is a good trans but if I had to do it over id use a stout 5 spd without such a low first (like the typical 3.08) gear. 6th is super tall on a T56, a different 5-6 gear cluster to change it out is NOT cheap. 2.88 or 2.66 is better for first imo
I have driven a TKO and think I would like to go with a Richmond 5 speed. However it looks like the OD unit is a little longer than the non-OD 5 speed. I want my shifter in the stock location and don't want to cut up the old girl too much. Any feedback?
I believe the tko 600 is stronger, so it depends on your torque. I installed a tko 600 in my '69, they are a pretty easy install and they are pretty much a bolt in.

Did you get the 0.64 overdrive? I think you will like it especially with 4.11 gears and a big block. I've got 3.90 gears and big block and the drop in rpm is great for cruising. I got almost 15 mpg on my last trip, not too bad!

Any recs to replace my Muncie M20 4-speed? The car is a 454cu.in. engine that when done should have about 400hp with 3.36 gear ring and pinion. Just looking for fun cruiser with tolerable RPMs on the highway. Also would like the 'perfect fit' idea with the shifter in the stock location. Should I go say 3.73 gears with 5-speed overdrive? Thanks!

I have a similar setup and have a Doug Nash/Richmond 5 speed with a 1:1 5th gear. 3.36 gears too. I get about 15mpg on the Hwy and would not want a 3.73 in mine, it is just right. I would say I am around 450 - 475 HP with my setup.
I'll be buying the SS .64 5th gear TKO600 kit for my '70 (4 speed) car in March (tax refund). I plan to keep the factory clutch linkage. If there is a group buy, wait until then
