68 turn signals don't work

68 turn signals don't work
Hey guys need some advise on how to get turn signals working on my 68 that has not been on the road in many years .
The flashers work all the way around and I have checked fuses put in new flasher and now have turn signal sw9irch where I can test it .I have 12 volts at the two pink wires at the flasher .When i went to remove turn signal switch there was two very small plastic tapered washers laying in the housing ?? and a flat small metal strip about a quarter inch by one inch long laying in the housing .Both green indicator arrows on spedo gauge light up when flashers work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Wes
